Milton (FL) linebacker William Beasley will be playing football this fall. Who will the NC State signee be suiting up for?

"I head up to NC State on Tuesday," said Beasley. "I'm so excited because I really didn't want to have to go to Hargrave if I didn't have to."

Beasley originally thought he had failed to qualify, and so did the NC State coaches. However, after all of his transcripts were sent in to the NCAA Clearinghouse, Beasley found out the good news.

"Well, the problem was the clearinghouse didn't receive all of my transcripts," said Beasley. "I think they were missing a class or two so they thought I didn't get in. After they got all of the transcripts I was cleared.

"Coach McCollum called me today with the news. He asked if I was sitting down because he was happy to tell me that I got in. I started packing and everything. I'll be up there on Tuesday."

Rated a three-star prospect by Scout.com, Beasley is expected to battle for playing time as a true freshman.

"Beasley looks like a complete player," said Scout.com's Miller Safrit. "He is tough against the run and plays well in coverage. Beasley has good size and at times is a very physical ‘backer.

"He is quick in the tackle box, shedding blocks well and showing a great burst to the ball. Beasley will strike you and cleans up a pile with tenacity. He has good size, versatility and instincts for the linebacker position. At times he can be very explosive."

As a senior Beasley tallied 135 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, one interception and three sacks en route to being named All-Northwest Florida, all-area and an invitation to the Pensacola Sports Association all-star game.

He originally committed to NC State over offers from Southern Miss, Maryland, South Florida and Iowa State among others.

Next up for him is the drive up to Raleigh.

"Man, I'm pumped," he said. "I want to go in and try to play right away. They said they want me ready to come in and play... that's what I'm going to do."
