Neal: Defense Needs to Finish

J.C. Neal spoke to the media on Tuesday afternoon about the defense needing to finish games and the rivalry with East Carolina.

On the progress of the defense
"I believe we are improving, but we still aren't getting a 'W'. So, you know, we've still got some small things to work on to get better."

On what needs to improve
"The last game penalties hurt us a lot. Getting more three-and-outs – I think we are staying on field too long. The defense needs to get more three-and-outs and help the offense get the ball back."

On the defenses fourth quarter performance
"I don't want to make it sound like and excuse – we are getting a lot of plays. We seem to be losing the juice in the fourth quarter. That's something we need to work on – finishing the game, playing 60 minutes."

On whether Tom O'Brien discussed the rivalry
"Nah, we know it though. It's in state – everybody wants to win the so-called state championship. We know there's a little bit of a rivalry going on."

On what beating ECU would mean
"It's always nice to win. So, you know, them being ranked is one thing but we just want to go in there and get a 'W'."
