Cincinnati (Ohio) Winton Woods tight end Anthony Talbert is just one of several prospects from the Buckeye State that the Wolfpack is looking at for the Class of 2009 and beyond. Both Asa Watson from Rock Hill, SC and Talbert hold offers as tight ends from the Pack and the two have clearly emerged as a point of emphasis for the NC State coaching staff as they look to add much needed depth at this position.
Talbert, at 6-4, 225 pounds has been rated as the No. 98 prospect at his position in the nation by Scout.com, and he's held offers for a while now. Where do things stand these days with Talbert?
"We've played five games so far and we're 4-1," Talbert said of his Winton Woods squad. "We don't throw the ball too much so I'm not sure what my stats are. I've mostly been blocking.
"In regards to recruiting, I've been hearing a lot from NC State, Ohio and Miami (of Ohio). All three of those schools have offered. I don't really remember when they did but they have. I'd say my favorites right now are NC State and Ohio."
While he has two schools at the top of his list, things look good for NC State in particular. Talbert has lined up an official visit with the Wolfpack and is already thinking about what might happen if things go well during his visit to Raleigh.
"I'm going to go down to NC State on the 27th of this month," he explained. "I like the coaches a lot so far, and I've seen their games on TV and I like their team as a whole. I can't wait to get down there and see the campus and everything.
“If things go well there's a big chance that I'll commit."
Talbert said he would like to take an official visit to Ohio but does not have a date lined up for that yet.
