Despite suffering through a tough loss on Saturday night, the NC State coaching staff received some good news on Sunday when Cincinnati (Ohio) Winton Woods TE Anthony Talbert pledged to the Pack.
State’s depth chart needs at the tight end position have been well documented and Talbert’s commitment gives the Wolfpack a boost. The senior was in Raleigh this past weekend for his official visit and talked about why he decided to run with the Pack.
“Yes sir, I committed today,” said Talbert. “It seemed like a great atmosphere and the coaches seemed liked they had my best interests in mind. And then also the players, they were great, also.
“They have really nice facilities there and they have a lot of nice stuff for the players and they get treated real well. There’s also a lot of things to do off campus and that was nice.”
NC State offensive line coach Don Horton has been busy in the state of Ohio this year and along with tight end’s coach Jim Bridge, they made a solid impression on Talbert.
“The tight ends coach, coach Bridge was really nice and he knew what he was talking about and he knows how to get the best out of his players. Coach Horton is a good recruiter and he’s the one that got me down there.”
In addition to NC State, Talbert also held scholarship offers from Miami (Ohio) and Ohio University in addition to interest from Cincinnati. As far as recruiting goes, Talbert says there’s no doubt where he’ll be playing next fall.
“I’m done with recruiting and I’m solid to NC State.”
