Everyone knows that the Sunshine State has some of the nation's most talented prospects on a yearly basis and one of the state's top defensive ends is high on the Wolfpack.
Orlando (FL) Dr. Phillips defensive end Victor Gray holds an offer from NC State and is high on the Pack. He's hoping to learn more about what NC State has to offer in terms of academics and football, but he already has a positive impression of the school and the program.
"I do plan on visiting NC State," Gray confirmed. "I'm not exactly sure when but I do think I'll be taking a visit there. I've talked to the coaches a little bit, and we've basically said that we'll wait until the end of my season to set something up.
"I'm not sure which coach it is that I've talked to but I think it's the running back’s coach. I'm not exactly sure. I don't really know too much about them but I like what I know. They play in a good conference against good competition. They've got a new staff and it seems like they're doing well."
NC State isn't the only school in hot pursuit of Gray. Defensive ends are at a premium, as many of the nation's best have already made verbal commitments.
"I'm not sure where I'll take all my visits because I'm waiting for the end of the season, but I would like to take as many as I can. I've been talking to schools like Ole Miss, Boston College and Kansas. There are some others too. Schools are still calling and letting me know they're interested."
Dr. Phillips is currently in the second round of the state playoffs. They face off against a team they defeated 42-27 earlier in the season. In that first match-up, Gray recorded an eye-popping 12 tackles and six sacks, en route to Defensive Player of the Week honors.
