"I committed to the NC State coaches today," Smith said. "I'm excited about my commitment."
Smith committed to NC State after also considering offers from Auburn, UAB, Vanderbilt, and Georgia Southern among others.
The 5-foot-10, 180-pounder played quarterback, safety, and cornerback for Dublin, leading his team to back-to-back state playoff appearances. As a junior, Smith tallied better than 2,500 all-purpose yards while collecting 59 tackles and nine picks on defense. He was named middle Georgia player of the year, 4-AA player of the year, Atlanta Journal Constitution all-state and the 2A state defensive player of the year.
How good of an athlete is Smith? He was the only athlete in Georgia to be named all-state in football and basketball last season.
With NC State assistant coach Andy McCollum heading up his recruitment, Smith has been a major priority for the Wolfpack. He earned an early offer and camped at NC State over the summer where he impressed. How important of a recruit was Smith? He said that the entire coaching staff has been in contact with him.
"I've talked to Coach Reed, Coach O'Brien, Coach McCollum, Coach Willis and Coach Archer," he previously stated. "Basically I've talked to the whole coaching staff."
Pack Pride will have more from Smith in the near future so stay tuned!
