Name: Brandan Bishop
Hometown: Boca Raton, Florida
Junior College: Boca Raton High School
Notes: After taking official visits to NC State and West Virginia, Boca Raton (FL) safety Brandan Bishop realized he was ready to make a decision. He will play his college ball in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
"I've committed to NC State," said Bishop. "I feel really comfortable with the program and the coaching staff. It's a place I can see myself playing at for the next four or five years."
Bishop verbally committed to NC State defensive coordinator Mike Archer during an in-home visit.
He visited NC State for the Wolfpack's final regular season game against Miami and was at West Virginia when the Mountaineers defeated South Florida. The initial trip to NC State certainly left an impression.
"The visit was awesome," said Bishop. "I had a real good time. I have grandparents in North Carolina so we spent Thanksgiving with them and then came over to State on Friday.
"It was my first chance to see State but I liked everything about it. I liked the team. I liked the coaches. I liked the school and I think the program is going in a real positive direction under coach O'Brien. I just liked the visit a lot."
Bishop picked NC State over offers from West Virginia, Pittsburgh, Central Michigan, Florida International, Western Michigan, and Air Force.
A three-year starter, Bishop has blocked four kicks over the last two seasons, recorded 18 tackles in a game earlier this year, and totaled 70+ tackles and four interceptions in 2008 from his strong safety position. At 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds, he projects as a safety or weakside linebacker on the next level.
