Wilmington (N.C.) Hoggard offensive tackle T.J. Leifheit is a load at 6-foot-7 and 320 pounds. The scariest part is, he's only just now started to tap into his wealth of potential.
That's one reason college coaches consider Leifheit to be such a hot commodity and it largely explains why his stock is on the rise. Leifheit now holds 12 scholarship offers. All five FBS programs in the state of North Carolina have offered him, as have several other schools from the region.
NC State was one of the first schools to offer him, and that may end up helping the Pack out down the road.
"Well, (North) Carolina offered and then four or five days after that NC State came by the school and offered me," Leifheit recalled. "I went to two football games at State last year ... when they played William & Mary and the East Carolina game.
"I'll actually be there again this Saturday for a basketball game and then I'm going to their junior day on Sunday.
"The big thing I want to do with State is get to know their offensive line coach a little better. I haven't really had a chance to meet him and that's something I'd like to do."
That's not all Leifheit plans on doing in the near future, though.
"I'm going to UNC's Junior Day on February 28, I think," he said. "I think that's the only other thing I'm going to. I should be going to several spring games ... maybe at Clemson, Cal or Florida State. There will be some spring games and some spring practices I go to. I guess it all depends on how it works out."
