Kendall Moore entered the initial stages of the recruiting process several months ago during his junior season at Southeast Raleigh as a prospect that many coaches wanted to keep an eye on. Today he is firmly established as one of the state's top players.
Moore now holds offers from NC State, North Carolina, Florida State, Clemson, Maryland, West Virginia, Wake Forest and several others, so he will have no shortage of schools to choose from whenever decision time rolls around.
What has he been up to lately?
"I haven't set up any trips yet," he said. "As for junior days, I've been to UNC, NC State, Duke, Wake Forest and South Carolina. They all went well but I don't have any (favorites) yet. I'm wide open right now."
Moore has been saying that for quite some time. For now the 6-3, 225-pound prospect is just soaking up all the information about schools he can absorb so his decision will be that much easier later in the year.
He's also working on polishing up his physique to improve his versatility. One of his goals is to lose twenty pounds in the coming weeks.
"I want to be a lot more versatile," he explained. "I don't want to be stuck at just linebacker. I've been doing a lot with my coaches. I have class with them so they're trying to work me out more. Plus I'm looking to get out to the track to get my speed better."
Moore and his quarterback, Gabe Henderson, have a strong friendship. The two have both been hearing from some of the same schools and wouldn't mind if they ended up at the same school. What have they been saying to each other lately?
"We've talked about it but we really just want the best for each other. If that means us going to the same school that's a plus," Moore said.
NC State has been after both prospects and the Wolfpack coaches undoubtedly have Moore tagged as one of the top prospects on their board for the current junior crop of prospects. So what’s the latest with Moore’s interest in the Pack?
"Oh, I'm high on State," he said. "I talk to coach Archer a lot. He's told me he's high on me and told me if I wanted to commit I could come up there early."
That said, Moore has yet to narrow his list or even begin that process yet. His next move will likely be to attend spring practices and spring games at some of the schools recruiting him, but as he said, he has not yet made any plans for that.
