Cunningham to Transfer

NC State head coach Tom O'Brien confirmed today that redshirt freshman defensive back Akeem Cunningham will transfer.

Pack Pride has learned that redshirt freshman defensive back Akeem Cunningham will transfer to another school.

NC State head coach Tom O'Brien confirmed Cunningham's departure following Saturday's spring scrimmage.

Hailing from East Orange, New Jersey, Cunningham was a late signee for the Wolfpack in 2007 after qualifying post-signing day. He originally committed to Vanderbilt but switched his verbal to NC State before inking in May.

Cunningham redshirted in 2008 and was expected to contribute at cornerback.

The 5-foot-11, 191-pounder tallied 14 touchdowns and six interceptions while playing wide receiver and cornerback for East Orange High School.

His future plans are unknown at this time.
