Name: Vincent Williams
Hometown: Homestead, Florida
High School: South Dade High School
Position: Point Guard
NOTES: Homestead (Fla.) South Dade point guard Vincent Williams is one of the top senior point guards in the country.
"Vincent really evolved into a complete player with his scoring and passing [this season]," said South Dade coach John Herron. "He has become more assertive as a leader on the court. His defense has picked up as well."
After averaging 26 points and 6 assists per game the unsigned senior has a game that his coach thinks resembles a current Florida State star.
"In college, I would say he's like Toney Douglas. He gets steals, plays defense, runs the team, and scores when needed," said Herron.
A player as good as Williams is in high demand, especially during the spring period where quality prospects are hard to find. Williams picked up a scholarship offer from Georgia yesterday and is in the process of setting up an official visit with the SEC program.
He is also hearing from Indiana, NC State, Charlotte, and UAB. Wolfpack head coach Sidney Lowe indicated he could come down this week to evaluate Williams in action.
Williams has seen the interest increase as he recently received a qualifying SAT score. Look for him to take some visits and sign this spring, although he could still attend a prep school next fall if he doesn't find the college he is looking for.
