Pack to Face Northwestern in Challenge

RALEIGH, N.C. – Matchups for the 11th annual Big Ten/ACC Challenge were announced on Wednesday afternoon, and NC State will play host to Northwestern on Tuesday, December 1.

The game will be the second time the two squads have faced off in the challenge, as the Pack defeated the Wildcats, 74-47, in Raleigh during the 2002-03 season.

NC State has posted a 5-4 all-time record in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. The Wolfpack has won all four of its home games in the challenge, and has gone 1-4 on the road, winning at 19th-ranked Purdue in 1999-2000.

The ACC has won each of the 10 Big Ten/ACC Challenges played to date.

NC State currently holds a 3-0 all-time record against Northwestern. The two teams first met in 1957-58 with a 71-68 Pack win at home, then again in 1969-70 in Fayetteville, with a 98-75 NC State win. The last meeting was the Pack's 74-47 win during the 2002-03 season.

For the fifth consecutive year, the Challenge will feature 11 games and include two telecasts on ESPNU with ESPN and ESPN2 combining to televise the remaining nine games. ESPN360.com, the broadband sports television network from ESPN, will simulcast the ESPN and ESPN2 telecasts.
