McPhadden set for busy January

Aubrey McPhadden is yet another huge lineman that the Pack seem to covet. The 6'6" 320 pound offensive lineman from Jacksonville seems interested in NC State, but the deal has not been sealed. TSW caught up with Aubrey for a follow-up interview to see where he is in selecting his future college.

The last time we talked to Aubrey was in November and he had just gotten back from his visit to NC State where he rated his visit to Raleigh a 8.5. In December, NC State continued to hold their own, as Aubrey told Jamie Newberg that Florida State and NC State were his leaders. As we get into the January push, McPhadden tells TSW that not much has changed. "Florida State and NC State are my favorites, but everyone is real close. I visit Auburn this weekend, then I go to Maryland. I go to Florida State later in the month."

McPhadden also participated in the annual Florida/California Bowl. He made a few friends there and had a good time. "I hung out with Amp Hill alot. We lost to California, but we still had a good time. I think the score was 26-15."

Although the Gator Bowl was right in his own backyard of Jacksonville, Aubrey was unable to see the Wolfpack team at practice or at the game. "I was not able to go see them that week. I saw the highlights on ESPN. It looked like a good game."

While NC State looks to be in decent shape for the talented big man, it might be a case of not counting the chickens till they hatch. Auburn, Maryland and Florida State will all put a big push in landing McPhadden. NC State may hold an advantage for now, but with the other visits still pending, it may just come down to last impressions. "I will decide in January after I finish my visits. It's really close now."

McPhadden's size at 6'6 320 pounds has certainly drawn the recruiters with offers but Aubrey's foot speed is a tremoundous bonus. He was clocked at a 5.47 at Nike last summer, but since he has registered a 5.3 which is amazing for a man of his size.
