Watkins promoted to Director of Operations

Levi Watkins will take over the men's basketball Director of Operations job, replacing Justin Gainey. Gainey was hired as an assistant to new Elon coach Matt Matheny in April.

Watkins played for NC State from the 2002-05 seasons. He appeared in 97 career games, and hit 82 career three-pointers. Watkins was apart of four NC State teams that were very successful. As a player, he went to four consecutive NCAA tournaments; making NC State one of 21 teams in the country to do so at the time. NC State progressed to at least the second round in three of his four years there, including the Sweet Sixteen in his senior year.

NC State won the first game of the ACC tournament every year including two appearances in the championship game. Also, NC State became the first team in ACC History to knock off the No. 1 seed in the ACC Tournament in two consecutive years (2002 & 2003). NC State won 21 or more games three times and defeated the previous seven national champions throughout his career. To add to the list of accomplishments NC State posted nine wins over the top 10 teams in the country in which five of the games were on the opponents' home court.
