It was only a matter of time until Reggie Wilkins' stock started to soar, it seems. The 5-11, 180-pound athlete from Shelby (NC) Crest is now up to five offers and it appears as though that list is going to continue to grow.
In a recent interview with Pack Pride, Wilkins claimed he holds offers from NC State, East Carolina, Clemson, Marshall, and Georgia Southern.
NC State was the first school to offer, so naturally Wilkins has given the Pack an especially hard look thus far.
"I really haven't heard too much from them," he explained. "But I still think they're sending me letters and stuff like that. They were my first offer so they're still up near the top of my list. I'd say my favorites are (North) Carolina, NC State and Florida."
Wilkins is hoping a busy summer schedule, filled with unofficial visits and camp stops, will help his stock continue to rise. He plans on camping at NC State, North Carolina, Duke, Wake Forest, Florida, Clemson, Tennessee, South Carolina, Marshall and others, if he is able to arrange his schedule to allow it.
"Yeah, I'm gonna be going to a lot of camps. Carolina and some others said they're probably going to offer me pretty soon."
The Clemson offer was big for Wilkins. He said he is interested in the Tigers, but isn't sure how he would fit in just yet.
"They offered me like Thursday or Friday," he said. "It was one of those days. I like them a little but I don't know what they're recruiting me for. The defensive backs coach is recruiting me and he wants me to play DB. The offensive coordinator wants me to. I think they're offering me for offense and defense.
"I'll play wherever. It doesn't really matter. I really like offense, kick returner and punt returner. The big thing for me is gonna be whether I'll be able to start and get playing time, and how I fit in."
