Bailes has new co-leaders

NC State and Jonathan Bailes seemed to be heading to a scholarship union last fall, but something seems to of derailed the mutual attraction. TSW called Jonathan to see where things stand between him and NC State.

When TSW interviewed Jonathan Bailes in September, he told us that things were looking good for him to eventually attend NC State, although he had no offer. "I have a good understanding with the coaches. They know I want to go there and they tell me they want me there. So right now, I don't have anything in writing, but I do have an understanding."

Something happened since then, and it appears that a need at another position has taken priority. "They called my coach and told him they had a more immediate need for running backs. I have not heard from them in a while. They may still call may coach, but I'm not sure. They stopped calling me a few weeks back."

Other schools have picked up interest however. Mississippi State and San Diego State are listed as his current leaders. "I would list San Diego State and Mississippi State as my co-leaders. I am also hearing from Michigan State, Kent State and West Virginia. Troy State wants me to go up there for a visit, but I don't think I'll take that visit."

Bailes is one in a handful of division one prospects that attend Jefferson High in Tampa, Florida. TE Jamesley Jean is believed to be a current NC State prospect. The Pack would also love to get a visit from 5 star WR Andre Caldwell, but at this point it looks unlikely. RB Reshaun Grant has committed to play for Georgia Tech while big OL Donnie Woods says he will be heading to Maryland when he graduates. Others at Jefferson incude S Mike Taylor and RB Josh Balloon.
