Fort Lauderdale is annually one of the top areas for talent in the Sunshine State, and St. Thomas Aquinas has been home to some of the city's top prospects over the years.
The school currently has a Class of 2010 running back that has college coaches from all over the nation interested. James White, a 5-11, 190-pound back with a 40-yard dash time of 4.5 seconds holds offers from NC State, Boston College, Clemson, Iowa, Michigan State, Minnesota, Rutgers and Wisconsin, among others.
White recently took a trip to Michigan State, and he spoke with Pack Pride not long after he was done with that trip.
"It went pretty good. The coaches showed me a great time. I really liked it," he recalled. "I've been there and to Wisconsin, Iowa, USF and I went to Florida's spring game. They were all pretty good, but I liked the Michigan State trip the most out of all those. It was just the best trip, though. No favorites."
White has not yet had an opportunity to take a trip to Raleigh, but is scheduled to visit Wake Forest, NC State, Virginia, and Duke in the near future. If the Wolfpack can get him in town they might have a decent shot, due largely to the youngster's relationship with NC State's defensive coordinator.
"I've been talking to coach (Mike) Archer," he said. "We've got a good relationship. He came down to see me in the spring. He says they're going to run the football.
"He knows I play baseball, and their quarterback Russell Wilson plays baseball. Their coaches like two-sport athletes and I might try to do that."
Despite his interest in playing both sports, White said he has not spoken to baseball coaches at the schools recruiting him.
The schools that have offered might have a bit of a wait with regards to his decision.
"Everybody's even with me right now. I have no favorites. I'm just easy-going right now. During the summer I'll probably cut down my list but I'm not sure how much I'm going to cut it down. Me and my parents are probably going to sit down and do that."
