Olney (MD) Good Counsel safety Frank Tamakloe has a plan in place. Look for him to take a few unofficial visits in the near future.
"I'm just open to all schools," said Tamakloe. "I'm going out to visit the Midwest this week. I'm visiting Wisconsin, Northwestern, and possibly Iowa.
"After that I'll visit Wake Forest and probably swing by North Carolina State and possibly [North] Carolina one more time."
At 6-3 and 185 pounds with 4.45-second speed in the 40-yard dash, Tamakloe has tremendous instincts for the safety position and is a solid tackler.
He holds ten scholarship offers and is considering all of them at this time. With that being said, he could have a top five in the near future.
"I've been offered a scholarship by UNC, NC State, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Maryland, Louisville, Northwestern, Wake Forest, Iowa, and Syracuse," said Tamakloe. "I don't really have a favorite, but I'm getting close to narrowing it down. I think after I swing by all of these schools I'll have my list."
Here are Tamakloe's thoughts on some of the teams under consideration.
Wake Forest: "I like their coaching staff and the fact that it's a good academic school. That offer was a surprise because I hadn't been hearing from them like that, but it was a pleasant surprise. Wake Forest is a program on the rise."
Maryland: "I like the fact that it's 15 minutes down the road and if I work hard I could have the chance to possibly play early. It's close to home... I like that."
Wisconsin: "I have a great relationship with the defensive backs coach, and there is a chance to play early at Wisconsin. It's also a good academic school."
Iowa: "Iowa has a great tradition. That was actually a surprise offer as well. I've been getting a lot of mail from them for the longest time."
Northwestern: "That's a great academic school. I also have a good relationship with the coaches. I talk with the coaches recruiting me all the time, the coach recruiting me and the head coach. I exchange emails with coach Fitzgerald every couple of days and they are recruiting me really hard."
North Carolina: "I like Butch Davis and the fact that Carolina is on the rise. They are also renovating their facilities. Again, I just like coach Butch Davis and how the program is going in the right direction."
NC State: "I like coach Willis a lot. I have a good relationship with coach Willis, and I really like coach O'Brien. Also, they need safeties. I think they are only signing two or three so there's a chance I can come in early and play for them. The facilities are very good too."
Tamakloe hopes to be able to make a decision in the next few weeks.
"I'm trying to make a decision by the end of the month and before camp starts," he stated. "What I'm hoping to do is make a decision and then maybe camp at one school, the school I commit to. I don't want to be out traveling too much because I want to focus on my season so I'm trying to get all my visits in now so I can commit and my high school team can focus on winning a championship.
"Everybody has facilities and all that, but it's not about that... it's about what you do with them. What really will separate the schools is the people there, the players on the team, and the academics. I'm looking to major in Engineering, but I'm open to other majors as well."
