Hometown: Marietta, Georgia
High School: Lassiter High School
Notes: Mason is rated a three-star prospect and the No. 47 quarterback in the country by Scout.com. As a junior he passed for over 3,700 yards and 31 touchdowns for Lassiter and already holds offers from Iowa, Indiana and Georgia Southern among others.
He will be at Purdue on Wednesday. Friday he'll attend a one-day camp at North Carolina before attending a one-day camp at NC State on Saturday, June 20th. Next week he's scheduled to camp at Troy and East Carolina.
The Wolfpack is in the mix. Mason's center at Lassiter, Camden Wentz, inked with the Wolfpack in February and is in his ear. However, it appears NC State isn't recruiting him as hard as the other schools right now, but he knows that could change with a strong camp performance.
"NC State is really one of the schools I haven't heard as much from," said Mason. "I've been talking with coach Andy McCollum, and I'm going up to their camp because they don't offer any kids until they camp, but they haven't been recruiting me as hard as some other schools. I haven't heard much from coach Bible, but I think he could be one of those old school coaches.
"Hopefully I can go up there and keep things going well because if I throw good they could offer me a scholarship. Camden is definitely in my ear about NC State. He keeps telling me that if they offer I have to go there with him."
Don't expect a quick decision from Mason.
"I don't know when I will make a decision," he said. "It probably depends on how these camps go. If I pick up a couple of offers I might could hold off until the beginning of my football season, but I think if so that would be the latest by far."
