Norwood (NC) South Stanly safety/wide receiver Detric Allen can boast an impressive offer list, but NC State has not yet put a scholarship on the table.
Allen, a 6-0, 177-pound athlete, holds offers from Arkansas, Duke, East Carolina, Louisville, Virginia and Wake Forest. He's grateful for all of those opportunities, but he's also undoubtedly hoping to pick up an offer from the Wolfpack. That's a big reason he was in Raleigh for State's recent camp.
"Yeah, I went on (last) Friday," Allen confirmed when he last spoke with Pack Pride. "I was just there for one day. It went well. They put me through some drills and I did good in all of them.
"I talked to the defensive backs coach a little bit. He was very good and he liked me a lot. He taught me some more technique, so I liked what he had to say. I liked the campus, the weight room and the coaching staff. Really it was all good."
Despite the positive experience, Allen did not leave town with an offer. At least now he knows it's not entirely in his hands.
"I'm at least second or third on their (recruiting) board, I think," he said. "I think they're just going to wait on a couple of people in front of me before they (offer). I'll just have to see what happens.
"I'm probably going to take some more visits but not right now. It'll probably be more towards the beginning of the season."
Allen also attended a camp at Elon, but he is not seriously considering the school. He said he does not have any favorites at the moment.
The three-star prospect is ranked the No. 68 safety in the nation by Scout.com.
