Ex-Pack Players Ready for NBA Summer League

RALEIGH, N.C. – A total of five former Wolfpack players will suit up for action in the 2009 NBA Summer League which starts this upcoming weekend.

A pair of former first round draft selections will be playing for new teams this summer. Julius Hodge, drafted by the Denver Nuggets in 2005 is on the Chicago Bulls roster, while Cedric Simmons, drafted by the New Orleans Hornets in 2006, will be playing for the Denver Nuggets. Simmons split time last year between the Bulls and the Sacramento Kings, while Hodge has previous NBA experience with the Nuggets and the Milwaukee Bucks.

A trio of members of the 2008-09 squad will get their first taste of NBA action this summer, as all three will be looking to improve their stock and try to make the league as rookie free agents.

Brandon Costner will join Hodge on the Chicago Bulls, Ben McCauley will be playing with the defending NBA Champion Los Angeles Lakers, and Courtney Fells will suit up for the Orlando Magic.

The NBA Summer league will run July 10-19 at both the Thomas & Mack Center and the Cox Pavilion located on the UNLV campus in Las Vegas.

J.J. Hickson might have been a sixth former Pack player, but it appears a back injury that limited him late in his rookie season will force him to miss time this summer.
