Pack Pride reported in early July that Durham (NC) Hillside defensive tackle Eric Young had received an offer from NC State and had thought about committing to the Wolfpack.
The massive 6-3, 360-pound defensive lineman spoke with Pack Pride again recently, and apparently not too much has changed. He still holds the offer from NC State, but that's about it for now.
"I've heard from (North Carolina) A&T," he explained. "East Carolina, too. I'd like to go visit them just to see what's different and everything like that."
If he decides to visit those two schools, however, it would have to happen pretty soon. Young seems pretty intent on where he wants to be, and it might only be a matter of time until he makes his final decision.
"I've been talking to coach Willis, the defensive line coach from State. He's just telling me to stay conditioned and keep working hard. I still have the written offer from them. I haven't visited recently but I've been there a couple of times.
"They're my favorite for now. I like the kind of family tradition they have there. I like the football and the relationship between the coaches."
Has he thought about committing?
"I've thought about it," he admitted. "There's a chance I will, maybe sometime in September. Right now it's really just them, A&T and ECU."
Young would be the Pack's second verbal commitment from a prospect that calls Durham home. Big-time wide receiver talent Anthony Creecy from Southern Durham committed to NC State earlier this summer in June.
