Pack Pride Basketball Recruiting Board

With commitments from two of the top guards in the 2010 class, NC State is looking to add another prospect to give the Wolfpack one of the top recruiting classes in the country.

The Pack Pride Recruiting Board is in no way connected with the NC State coaching staff. This board is for our readers to remain updated with the recruitment of players who have shown an interest in NC State.

2010 and 2011 prospects are listed according to their interest in NC State through media outlets, various sources, etc... The 2011 list also includes additional potential prospects who either have or could emerge as legitimate NC State targets. We will update this board throughout the recruiting year when new information is reported.

2010 Commitments
NC State has commitments from two elite guard prospects.

G Lorenzo Brown []
Hometown: Roswell, Georgia
High School: Hargrave Military Academy (Chatham, VA)
Vitals: 6-5/180
SR. VIDEO, AAU VIDEO

A combo guard capable of playing both backcourt positions, Brown is a smooth guard with a slick handle, above-average athleticism, and the ability to create for others.

He was the Wolfpack's star recruit in the 2009 class but failed to qualify academically and has to attend prep school. Although Brown has been tough to reach, sources close to the situation insist that he remains committed to NC State.

He confirmed today with Pack Pride that he will be attending Hargrave Military Academy this fall.

Brown was ranked the No. 6 shooting guard and the No. 28 overall by Scout.com in the 2009 class.

PICKED NC STATE OVER: Florida, Tennessee, and Texas among others

PG Ryan Harrow []
Hometown: Marietta, Georgia
High School: Walton High School
Vitals: 5'11/150
JR. VIDEO, AAU VIDEO 1, AAU VIDEO 2, AAU VIDEO 3

As a junior, Harrow helped lead Marietta (GA) Walton to one of the best seasons in school history. He led the area in scoring and was named County Player of the Year over future ACC players Richard Howell (NC State), Ari Stewart (Wake Forest), and Glen Rice Jr. (Georgia Tech).

He had a strong spring and summer on the AAU circuit, and is now rated a four-star prospect by Scout.com. Currently he's the No. 28 player overall in the 2010 class and the No. 8 point guard prospect.

His brother-in-law, Erasto Hatchett, has been hired as new head coach at Word of God in Raleigh, but Harrow insists that the current plan is for him to remain at Walton High School.

PICKED NC STATE OVER: Auburn

2010 Targets
NC State is looking to land impact players in the 2010 class. With Harrow and Brown in the fold, they can afford to be picky.

F C.J. Leslie []
Hometown: Raleigh, NC
High School: Word of God Academy
Vitals: 6-8/200
HS VIDEO, AAU VIDEO 1, AAU VIDEO 2

Leslie had been committed to NC State since 2007 but re-opened his recruitment this spring. All of the big-time programs are all over him, as he is regarded as one of the top players in his class.

NC State remains in the mix but may have slipped some given the previous lead they held. North Carolina could be tough to beat if they offer a scholarship, and a major darkhorse is Arizona State.

Leslie is rated a five-star prospect and the No 13 player overall in the 2010 class.

COLLEGE LIST: NC State, Florida, Kentucky, UNC, Maryland, and Arizona State among others

PF/C Luke Cothron []
Hometown: Red Springs, North Carolina
School: Flora MacDonald Academy
Vitals: 6-8/205

NC State remains in the mix with Cothron, a player who attended a few games last fall during his junior year at Flora MacDonald.

Behind the scenes there appears to be a battle for control in Cothron's recruitment. Some folks would prefer to see him stay at Flora MacDonald while others would like him to transfer back closer to his Alabama home. If he sticks at Flora MacDonald, NC State will have a very good shot in the recruitment.

Alabama and Arkansas are strong as well.

Cothron is rated a four-star prospect and the No. 8 power forward in the country by Scout.com.

COLLEGE LIST: NC State, Alabama, UCONN, Arkansas, and Oklahoma State among others

SF Mychal Parker []
Hometown: Charlottesville, Virginia
High School: The Miller School
Vitals: 6-6/190

A dynamic wing, Parker is considered one of the top small forwards in the country. As a sophomore he played his high school ball in North Carolina, but has since moved on to The Miller School.

NC State's connection is commitment Ryan Harrow. Harrow and Parker are good friends and could play together on the next level.

With that being said, NC State has yet to extend a scholarship offer although they are evaluating him. Parker is being recruited by Pete Strickland. Maryland appears to be in great shape.

Parker is rated a four-star prospect by Scout.com.

COLLEGE LIST: NC State, Miami, Maryland, Florida, Clemson, Arkansas, Virginia, and Virginia Tech among others

G/F Bo Ingram [JC]
Hometown: Kinston, NC
Junior College: South Plains JC
Vitals: 6-5/200

A NC State fan, Ingram headed to South Plains JC after playing his prep career at Kinston (NC) High School. As a freshman at South Plains, he averaged just under 10 points per game in about 17 minutes of action.

Rumors surfaced recently that Ingram had committed to NC State but he informed Pack Pride that those rumors were false. Ingram claims an offer from NC State.

COLLEGE LIST: NC State, Charlotte, and Texas Tech among others

2011 Targets
NC State has already offered several prospects in the 2011 class.

F Quincy Miller []
Hometown: Chicago, Illinois
High School: Quality Education Academy (Winston-Salem)
Vitals: 6-7/180

Miller had a huge summer and has emerged as a coveted prospect. Duke offered over recently and a host of programs are in the mix.

He plans on visiting NC State and North Carolina this week. Neither have offered, but both could do so at some point in the near future.

Miller is rated a five-star prospect and the No. 3 power forward in the 2011 class.

COLLEGE LIST: Duke, Baylor, Florida, Wake Forest, UNC, and NC State among others

G/F Rodney Hood []
Hometown: Jackson, MS
School: Jackson HS
Vitals: 6-8/205

NC State was on Hood early in the process but we've been unable to confirm their current interest.

A solid wing, Hood has a versatile skillset and can score off the dribble or from the perimeter with his jumpshot.

He is currently rated a four-star prospect and the No. 8 shooting guard in the 2011 class.

COLLEGE LIST: NC State, Florida, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and Wake Forest among others

C Marshall Plumlee []
Hometown: Arden, NC
High School: Christ School
Vitals: 6-11/215

Yes there is another Plumlee and this one already holds a Wolfpack offer. Brother of Miles and Mason, who will be manning the frontcourt for Duke this fall, some think Marshall might end up the best.

He's all potential now, but he plays extremely hard, mixes it up on both ends, and is a legit high-major prospect.

NC State extended an early offer but appears to trail at the moment. Indiana and Michigan are strong and Duke is lurking.

Parker is rated a four-star prospect and the No. 8 power forward in the country.

COLLEGE LIST: NC State, Michigan, Indiana, and Duke among others

G/F Dezmine Wells [JC]
Hometown: Raleigh, NC
Junior College: Word of God
Vitals: 6-4/200

No local player helped himself more this summer than Dezmine Wells. Tracking as a mid-major, he was terrific on the circuit and now holds multiple high-major offers.

NC State is definitely in the mix and appear to be a major player.

Wells is rated a four-star prospect and the No. 17 small forward nationally by Scout.com.

COLLEGE LIST: NC State, Baylor, South Carolina, and Virginia Tech among others
