DE has a good visit

DE Maurice Charles really enjoyed his visit to NC State this past weekend. However, he isn't quite ready to make a commitment yet.

Maurice Charles is nearing an important decision about his future, one that looks very bright. This future business management/marketing major has narrowed his choices down to two fine universities, and he can't go wrong no matter which school he chooses. "My top two are North Carolina State and Florida," the dynamic DE told me. "Right now, they are pretty even."

Charles, who finished this past season with 158 tackles, 1 TD, 7 fumble recoveries, 12 forced fumbles, and 3 blocked punts, really enjoyed his visit to Raleigh this past weekend. He was hosted by Pat Thomas. "We hung out and checked out the dorms," he said. "We went to a fraternity party and then to a Super Bowl party. I told them that Tampa would win it, but no one believed me." Charles is being recruited by NCSU recruiting specialist "Doc" Holiday.

"NC State has assembled a pretty good coaching staff," he stated. "Coach Amato is a hands on coach, a pretty good coach. The facilities are very nice as well," he continued. "They have definitely added the most compared to any other school I've visited."

Maurice told me he didn't have a set time table planned for making a decision. He said he will probably decide on signing day.

Maurice is a multisport athlete. He plays football, baseball, track, and wrestles. He went 18-2 on the mat his junior year. He plays third base on the diamond, and throws the discus and shot put. At this past year's NIKE camp, Charles measured in at 6-foot-1 and 234 pounds. He ran a 4.72 there, ran a 4.40 shuttle run, and had a 22 inch vertical jump.
