Though he is more familiar with a couple of other programs in the state of North Carolina, Aramide Olaniyan is keeping a close eye on the Wolfpack.
The nation's No. 9 outside linebacker according to Scout.com, is hoping to take a visit to Raleigh later this year. Olaniyan has been unable to visit NC State up to this point, but that's not due to a lack of interest.
For much of the year the 6-2, 200 pound linebacker was committed to Duke. At the time he was open about his desire to visit other schools, but as a verbal commitment things inevitably moved more slowly than they otherwise could have.
"I haven't had a chance to get on campus yet," Olaniyan said of NC State. "I was supposed to head over soon, but I haven't been able to. I need to get on campus, but since they offered a little while ago I'm definitely interested in them."
Though he hasn't been to NC State, Olaniyan has spent plenty of time in North Carolina. He has taken multiple trips to Duke, and over the weekend he was at North Carolina's game against Georgia Southern.
Visits are always excellent opportunities to gather information about colleges, and Olaniyan takes a very systematic approach to the recruiting process. If NC State is to be a serious player in his recruitment, he will need to get on campus before too long.
"I really need to get on campus there before I determine (how much he likes State). Coach (Keith) Willis and I talk on a weekly basis. He calls every week."
Playing time is something else Olaniyan is looking for, and he believes he would fit nicely into the Pack's defensive system.
"They're definitely in need of guys like me to come and be on the team," he said. "It's always fun to talk to coach Willis. I'm not too sure when I'll visit, but I'd like to. Coach Willis is a great guy."
