Brown, a 6-foot-5 guard who plays three positions for Hargrave, finished unofficially with 27 points, 14 rebounds, and 12 assists on the night.
"They kept Pe'Shon on me a lot, him and Doron," said Brown. "I had a great game... we were clicking on the court. I can tell all the hard work I've been putting in at Hargrave is paying off."
Brown indicated that the structured environment at the prestigious prep school has helped strengthen the areas of his game that needed work.
"My jumpshot has improved a lot," he said. "I've also got quicker with my dribble. Everything is coming together for me on the court.
"I'm also much stronger. We're in the weight room every Wednesday and Sunday, and I can tell I'm putting on more weight. Overall, being up at Hargrave has my mind focused right now."
Following the game against Hargrave Brown reached a big decision when he officially recommitted to NC State.
"That's really where I want to go," he said. "I've always known that I'm going to State, but things were getting out that I might be looking elsewhere so I wanted to end all that by saying I'm fully committed to State. Doing it will get rid of the people trying to get in on me.
"The big thing for me is I love the coaches, and like it a lot at State. Also I can't wait to get there and play with my boy Ryan [Harrow]. It's going to be crazy when we get there."
Brown joins Marietta (GA) Walton point guard Ryan Harrow and Red Springs (NC) Flora MacDonald forward Luke Cothron in NC State's three-man 2010 recruiting class, a trio that is considered by most to be a top-10 class in the country.
"We have me and Ryan and are bring in Luke who I've played against," said Brown. "He's a beast in the paint... a go-getter. We already got the other guys there like Richard [Howell] and DeShawn [Painter]... we have the guards and the big men. All it means is we're going to win a lot of games."
NC State has one final piece they are looking to add to their 2010 recruiting class in Raleigh (NC) Word of God forward C.J. Leslie. Brown is familiar with Leslie's game, as they both suited up last summer for the Worldwide Renegades.
"C.J. is a monster," said Brown. "Words can't explain how good he is. I know we're trying to get him in there too... if we can get him. Man, that would be crazy."
With his decision behind him, Brown is focusing on his season at Hargrave and improving his academics.
"Hargrave has helped me so much with my grades," he said. "The way it's set up, you have to stay focused and do good in school. Right now I have a 3.0... I feel like I should have come here a long time ago.
"With recruiting, I'm done. I'm going to take my official visit I think during the season. I want to get up there and take with Ryan. Maybe we'll come for a game."
