NC State head coach Tom O'Brien announced today that freshman tailback James Washington will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury he suffered last week in practice.

NC State head coach Tom O'Brien announced today that freshman tailback James Washington will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury he suffered last week in practice.

"With T.J. hurt he was selection No. 2 [as returner]," O'Brien said of Washington. "It was an unfortunate injury Thursday in practice... concentrate on academics and get ready for spring ball."

Washington played in five games, totaling 76 yards rushing on 21 carries and scoring two touchdowns. He added five catches for 44 yards and another score, and also tallied 132 kickoff return yards.

The true freshman from Orlando, Florida won the No. 3 tailback spot in the fall.
