"We do what we always do in an open date, we try to get better as individual football players."

"We gave the younger guys, an interest in the future too, they got as many reps, we coached the freshmen as much as the older kids."

"We worked really hard with the older kids on fundamentals."

"Hopefully your scout team will be a little better and you'll be better as a football team coming out of the open week."

"We just feel that he gives us the best chance we have in the secondary. That was a part of last week, try and re-align the seventh different starting group in eight games. It's been a struggle, but hopefully he'll be the answer."

"That's all part of personnel and matchups. I think what teams have done is they are either doubling him or chipping him on the way out. That's to be expected."

"We've got to work hard on the other guys, that means the other guys are singled up and they have to get in and make a play."

"I think the best thing to happen is to try and create some one-on-ones for him but someone else has to step up and rush the passer."

"There are one-one-ones there, we're just a step away from getting there."

"This one is different. The first year we were here we were doing different things with different people. What we were coaching them was what they weren't capable of doing so we changed some guy's positions to fit what we had to do to win. That's certainly not the case this year. We know what we want to do, we just haven't got the execution out of some of the guys we have to get the execution out of... specifically in third-down situations to get off the field."

"With T.J. hurt he was selection No. 2 [as returner]. It was an unfortunate injury Thursday in practice... concentrate on academics and get ready for spring ball."

"Talking with a couple of kids, they understand what they have to get done. It's a question of making it work and making it happen. It has to come from them. That's a sense of us trying to coach them better and have them execute better. That's what we've got to get done."

"I think Toney Baker has been a great positive. I think he's added a lot to the offensive football team. We haven't been as consistent as we'd like on offense, we have to get that done. On defense... the positive is they are playing hard. They are giving it all they've got. We've just got to help them get to the spots they need to."

"Barnes would be the third back."

"They have so much speed on both sides of the ball, and they are really skilled on offense. Ponder is having a fabulous year. He's only thrown one interception, leads in total offense, second in pass efficiency so he's really come alive."

"Defensively, put the tape on and the names and numbers change but it looks the same. They've got great ability to make up ground, they tackle you and get you on the ground."

"Now that Ponder has grown up they are much better on offense than they were a year ago."

"There is so much to learn and understand. You've seen two kids kind of grow into their role, understanding what they are supposed to do and how to do it."

"You don't have to be anything, but it's better if you are smart and talented."
