Cash: Pack 'still has a shot' at bowl

RALEIGH -- Alan-Michael Cash spoke to the media following Tuesday's practice, discussing the Pack's defensive goals against Maryland.

On how the defense moves on after Florida State
"We still have opponents to play so we know we have to come out here and give it everything we have to make it to a bowl. We still have a shot at that so we are pushing for that."

"It is [possible] – nobody said it's going to be easy or anything. We have to stay together as a team, that's the most important thing. It really is a ‘one game at a time' thing; we have to take them as they come."

On staying positive during games and in practice
"Our captains are doing a lot of reinforcing and myself as well, we just try to keep a positive vibe. [The non-seniors] still have to play next year and we are trying to leave with a positive taste in our mouths."

On whether the team has improved in recent weeks
"I honest do [think we got better]. The bye week gave us a chance to redo everything and just touch base with the little things that are key. Although we didn't win I feel like we got better."

"I'm hoping [the improvements] will show this week. I have a strong feeling they will and everybody will come together and get everything taken care of."

On the defensive goals against Maryland
"Stop the run. They are going to be run heavy – we know Maryland and they are pretty big and they are going to try to run. Our main thing is to stop the run and get after that quarterback."

On if he's still enjoying his final year despite all the setbacks
"I'm still having a good time. I love these guys and that's not going to change. Although we aren't winning as much as we want to I'm going to be happy with the guys around here because its family."
