Wilson Looking Forward to Visits

Tight end Evan Wilson performed well at NC State's camp over the summer. Is the Wolfpack still interested? Pack Pride has the latest.

Georgia tight end Evan Wilson has been keeping a low profile for much of this year. Pack Pride recently caught up with him to see where he stands in regards to his recruiting.

The 6-6, 225-pound tight end from Woodstock High School in the talent-rich Peach State has helped his team to an 8-1 record with one more regular season game remaining.

"Things are going pretty good," Wilson said in a recent interview. "The team's rolling along. We're playing pretty good football. We've got one more game and we're going to be a two-seed in the playoffs.

"It's definitely bittersweet. You know, I'm trying to hold onto high school football as much as possible. Senior Night is this coming week."

Wilson has lined up at tight end and defensive end for Woodstock. While he is unsure of his defensive stats, he has caught eight balls for about 70 yards on the season.

Middle Tennessee and Florida International have each extended offers to the rangy prospect, and he has been hearing from some smaller schools such as Furman. At one point NC State was expressing a good bit of interest in Wilson. Is that still the case?

"Not recently," he said. "I still get a good bit of mail from them, and I get game invites. I haven't talked to them, though. I'd like to take some visits at the end of the season, but not really right now.

"I did go to a Middle Tennessee game earlier. That was a great experience. They've got a great coaching staff and a great football program. I don't have any favorites, though."

Wilson is ranked the No. 58 tight end in the nation according to Scout.com, and he is rated a two-star prospect. NC State does not have a commitment from a tight end in the Class of 2010 as of yet.
