Charlotte (NC) Christian junior linebacker Kyler Brown took an unofficial visit to NC State a couple of weekend’s ago to watch the Pack take on Clemson. Pack Pride has the latest on the Class of 2011 prospect.
Though he is listed as 6-4 and 198-pounds, Brown has plenty of room for growth. Since he is still so young, he could end up growing quite a bit, and that will largely determine what position he lines up at in the college ranks.
This was a coming out year, so to speak, for Brown, and not many colleges were aware of him until recently. The attention may be coming as a bit of a surprise, but he is taking everything in stride.
"Yes, I went to the Clemson game (at NC State)," Brown explained. "It was good. It went great. I went as a recruit, so we just went up there to check things out. I think we got there a little bit late, and we just went up to the dining hall. We ate, then we went on the field for warm ups. Then we watched the game."
Though the game was a rough one for the Pack, like much of the 2009 season has been, Brown seems to have enjoyed his time in Raleigh.
"They didn't win, but from what I saw they did pretty good, I guess," he said. "They've had a tough year, I guess you could say. They're looking to get back to winning again.
"I didn't get a chance to talk to the coaches because by the time we got there they were already on the field, I think. I didn't get a chance to talk to them."
Though NC State has not yet offered Brown he said the Pack would be a serious option down the road. The offer picture might clear up a bit down the road, as Brown has just now started to distribute junior film to college coaches.
He has sent highlight tape to North Carolina, NC State and Wake Forest. Various coaches have come by the school inquiring about him.
Brown is unsure of his stats from his junior season, but he classified it as a breakout year. He is the brother of Kelby Brown, a current Duke commit from the Class of 2010.
