Eric Young has been as patient as possible over the course of the recruiting process, as schools have been telling him they are still in the evaluation phase for some time.
The 6-3, 360-pound mountain of a young man had a nice senior season at Durham Hillside, where he lined up at nose guard and defensive end at various times during the year.
NC State has expressed serious interest in Young for a good while now, as have schools like Duke, Florida State and North Carolina A&T. He spoke with Pack Pride recently to give us the latest on the recruiting process.
"I'm going to be (officially) visiting State on January 12, hopefully," Young explained. "I've talked to coach Swepson and he's saying they really want to see me. Hopefully I'll be able to make it up then. I don't think they're as interested now as they were before, but they're interested."
Young attended a couple of games at Carter-Finley Stadium over the course of this year, and he also went to games at Duke and North Carolina A&T.
"I had a home visit from A&T but that's about it so far," he said. "I'm not really that interested in them but it's an option."
The talented interior lineman helped Hillside to the second round of the state playoffs before they were knocked out. For now, it appears as though he is waiting to see if the Pack's coaches decide to extend an offer. In other words, he has been in the same spot for several months.
