This is the first entry I will be writing to all the NC State fans at Pack Pride, and I hope you enjoy reading my diary over the next few months.
You all probably heard about the situation with me during the Milton game where I collapsed tp the floor. It was late in the game, and I just got real tired and dizzy all of a sudden. I felt like I should sit down, and I eventually just got real weak... the ambulance came out and they took me to the hospital.
The doctors took real good care of me at the hospital and ran a bunch of tests. Everything came back fine and from what I was told I just needed to take some time away from basketball so I can build back up my strength.
I've not been playing any basketball and just really resting these last few days. I went to the doctor today to see a cardiologist and everything came back fine which is great news.
As for me returning to the floor, right now the plan is to come back in time for our game against Wheeler High School (January 23) or maybe the game afterwards.
Coach Harris from State was actually at the game against Milton. He called my mom and asked how I was doing and everything... all the coaches called to check in. They agreed in that I need to take it easy and that's what I'm going to do.
State got a big win a few minutes ago over Florida State. That was a big win because it was on the road and it was the first in the ACC. I couldn't get the game on TV here in Georgia, but my cousins kept texting me to let me know how we were doing, and I kept talking and getting texts from Lorenzo [Brown].
I heard that Scott Wood had 31 points in the game. I was talking to Lorenzo about it tonight... Lorenzo was saying he didn't know about Scott, didn't know he was as good as he is. He never really got to see him play. I've seen Scott play before, and I had been telling Lorenzo that Scott was going to be the man... he can shoot it.
We now have a big game coming up on Saturday against Clemson. I'm going to be there for that one in Raleigh... I want to try and make as many home games as I can.
Thursday, January 14 (9:30 P.M.)
We just started back with our new classes at Walton. Right now I'm taking Trig, Literature, Economics, Health and Weightlifting. The only two I have to take to graduate are Trig and Literature. I feel like I'm going to have another good session in school. In the fall I did great with my grades.
I've started back practicing a little bit on my own with my trainer. Yesterday we got back out there and I made it through the entire 50-minute workout, but I was moving through it pretty slow. The good news is my shot was going down.
I'm still not going to change my timeframe for when I want to come back. It's still going to be the Wheeler game if I'm ready because that would be a few weeks off so I can feel all the way back to 100%.
I've missed one game so far. We struggled a little bit and were down to a team that I think was 2-15 at that point. The good news is my team ended up pulling out the win which is great for us.
Our next game is tomorrow against Centennial, Lorenzo's old team. That was a game I was looking forward to because it's always a great game. I'm sorry I can't help the team out, but I've put myself through too much already. I know that I need this break, and I hope that we get the win.
I've had a chance to talk with the State coaches after the Florida State game and they said it was a big road win for them. My mom has been talking with coach Harris about setting up our official visit. It's all depending on Lorenzo [Brown] right now because we are going to take our official visit together.
We want to come up for one of the big games, either Duke or [North] Carolina, and next week we play Duke on Wednesday. I can get there for it, but I don't know if Lorenzo can so we're still waiting for him to hear back from his coach. If he can make it, we'll be there for the Duke game to take our official visit.
I'll be leaving tomorrow for Raleigh so I can see the game against Clemson. It's going to be a tough game. I saw Clemson play against UNC the other night, and they played real well even though I think UNC had something like 40 turnovers. I know the Booker kid is tough and Tanner Smith is good too.
It should be a good game.
