    Maryland Game Notes

    MARYLAND TOPS UVA
Maryland, which is 9-3 since the calendar changed to 2010, is back on court after its 85-66 win over Virginia on Monday at Comcast Center. The Monday game was a makeup after the Terps and Cavaliers were snowed out on Feb. 10. Maryland has won three of four and seven of nine.

    RACE FOR THE ACC TITLE
The Terps are in third place in the Atlantic Coast Conference standings with a 7-3 record, 1.5 games behind league-leading Duke. Virginia Tech is now in second at 8-3 after posting its fifth straight win last night with a triumph at home over Wake Forest. A Terp win tonight would move Maryland into a tie with the Hokies for second place in the league. NC State comes into tonight's game having lost four straight and in 12th place in the league.

    VASQUEZ A STAR
Senior guard Greivis Vasquez had another stellar performance on Monday against Virginia. He hit 10 of 13 shots from the floor on his way to 25 first-half points, and ended the game with 30. It was his second 30-point effort of the season and the fourth of his career.

Vasquez is now 31 points from becoming the sixth player in Maryland history with 2,000 points. Should he reach that milestone, he would be the only player in ACC history with 2,000 career points, 700 career assists and 600 career rebounds.

    TERPS AMONG ACC'S BEST
Lindy's College Basketball preseason magazine hit the newsstands and has touted the University of Maryland men's basketball program in a number of ways.

The Terrapins are listed ninth among the decade's top programs by the magazine. The listing notes Maryland's national championship in 2002, as well as its 223-111 record during the decade. Senior point guard Greivis Vasquez is listed on the Terps' All-Decade Team along with Lonny Baxter, Steve Blake, Nik Caner-Medley and Juan Dixon.

The Terps share "The Decade's Top 10 Programs" with Kansas, North Carolina, Michigan State, Duke, UConn, Florida, UCLA, Texas and Arizona.

MARYLAND AMONG ACC'S BEST LAST TEN YEARS
Maryland has been one of the top programs in the ACC over the past 10 seasons... At the start of 2009-10:
    • With 107 victories since 1999, Maryland is 3rd among all ACC schools in regular-season conference wins.

    • Head coach Gary Williams ranks 2nd among active ACC coaches with 172 career wins in league play.

    • The Terps captured the 2002 ACC regular-season title & the 2004 ACC Tourney championship.

    • Maryland owns the league's best record in games against Duke and North Carolina over the past 10-plus seasons. The Terps are 20-28 in games against Duke and Carolina since the 1998-99 season... No other ACC team has more than 14 wins against the Blue Devils and Tar Heels in that time.
