"On a scale of 1-to-10, this was a 10. It's always good to beat a rival team like Duke. That' s why we came here, to beat teams like Dukie, North Carolina and Wake Forest. For some of this, it is the first time we ever beaten them and it feels pretty good."

One Devil of a celebration at State

Tracy Smith was having his best birthday ever, and with midnight approaching, he wasn't ready for it end.

So instead of heading directly to the N.C. State locker room after the Wolfpack's 88-74 upset of Duke on Wednesday, the 22-year-old junior center stuck around for a few minutes to celebrate with his fellow students after they stormed the RBC Center court.

"I've wanted to beat Duke for the longest time," Smith said after finally making it to the post game interview room, a pointy red birthday hat perched happily on his head. "It just feels so good." - Read More

Pack Finally Puts It All Together

The Pack turned the ball over nine times against a high-pressure defense. Guards Javier Gonzalez and Farnold Degand, maligned for their ball-handling and inconsistency, combined for 14 assists and three turnovers.

Since Lowe put Degand in the starting lineup for C.J. Williams, State is 2-1 with wins over Florida State and Duke. Both times, State scored 88 points - after breaking 80 points only twice in nonconference play.

Either injured, inconsistent or both in his first two seasons at State, Degand has matured into a solid playmaker at the off-guard position. He's averaging 10.4 points and 4.2 assists in January.

"It's just a different dimension for us," Lowe said. - Read More
