Commit Date: January 19, 2010

Recruiting Scene: Norman was a virtual unknown on the recruiting scene and was overlooked, in large part due to his lack of ideal size for a division one prospect. However, NC State loved his attitude, work ethic and non-stop motor and ramped up their interest during the month of December.

Holding offers from several smaller colleges, Norman visited NC State officially in mid-January and was extended a Wolfpack offer during his trip. After returning home and mulling the offer for a few days, he committed to the Pack.

Why NC State? "I went up there this weekend for my visit and it was everything I wanted it to be. I just love the school and coach Willis just told me that he believes in me and that I can go far. I just loved everything about it so I went ahead and committed."

Scouting Report: "One of the foundations of NC State's recruiting philosophy is to find players with a high motor that go all out on every play. The Pack doesn't like to waste time on coaching effort and it doesn't appear they'll need to with Chamblee (GA) defensive end Art Norman.

"Although undersized (6-1, 225 pounds) by today's standards, Norman makes up for his lack of size with tenacity and hard work. He is explosive off the line of scrimmage and uses his initial burst to blow by the opposing lineman. Norman doesn't boast a repertoire of moves, he simply uses his quickness and acceleration to shoot through gaps to make plays in the backfield.

"Norman shows good change of direction and once in the open field, moves like a linebacker. He has tremendous pursuit skills and seems to thrive on contact. When he hits a ball carrier, they rarely go forward. While he may not be the prototypical defensive end physically, Norman reportedly has the wing span of a player that is 6-5 and boasts the skills and intangibles to become a consistent contributor while at NC State." -- Pack Pride Recruiting Analyst Steve Williams
