Position Breakdown (Note- the information here is solely the opinion of Pack Pride and should be considered for discussion purposes only)

David Amerson

STRENGTHS: Although listed here as a safety, there's an above average chance that Amerson may begin his career at cornerback for NC State. Amerson is fluid, turns and runs well and has all the tools you're looking for in a high school defensive back. Exiting high school he simply doesn't have many weaknesses and may be one of the top two or three signees in this class based on potential.

WEAKNESSES: Amerson doesn't have many but if you wanted to nit-pic you could say he doesn't have tremendous speed. The biggest challenge he'll face is just making the transition from high school to college.

ACADEMICS: Projects as a qualifier

IMPACT IN 2010: Although a redshirt would be ideal, given NC State's yearly depth issues at defensive back, it's certainly plausible that Amerson could see the field in 2010.

Dontae Johnson

STRENGTHS: Johnson is a good athlete that simply seems to excel wherever he lines up. He has very good instincts and a solid frame and foundation with which to build into a very good college player. Like Amerson, Johnson could potentially play corner although he may be better suited for safety.

WEAKNESSES: Johnson probably doesn't have quite the hips, quickness and agility of Amerson but he's not far behind. He will need time to adjust to physicality of D-1 football.

ACADEMICS: Projects as a qualifier

IMPACT IN 2010: Redshirt is likely

D.J. Green

STRENGTHS: Green is extremely versatile and his physical makeup could ultimately project him at a number of defensive positions. He'll likely start at safety and should give State a physical presence that's been missing in the defensive backfield.

WEAKNESSES: With his size, Green doesn't have the typical speed and quickness you usually see in a defensive back. However, in the Wolfpack's scheme that may not be a big hindrance.

ACADEMICS: Unknown

IMPACT IN 2010: Because he's ahead physically, it's certainly possible he could see the field before the end of 2010 although a redshirt would be ideal.

Pete Singer

STRENGTHS: Singer was a very good high school player that got the most out of his physical ability. He plays hard and always seems to be around the ball. Singer is an above-average athlete who could make his initial impact on special teams.

WEAKNESSES: Singer is limited somewhat physically and will need to add considerable size and strength to adapt to the huge step up to the FBS level.

ACADEMICS: Projects as a qualifier

IMPACT IN 2010: Redshirt is likely... recent legal issues could play an ultimate role in Singer's situation.
