REPORT: Sweezy Suspended

According to a published report, NC State redshirt junior defensive tackle J.R. Sweezy has been suspended indefinitely by Tom O'Brien after being charged with misdemeanor assault and misdemeanor larceny.

RALEIGH – N.C. State University football coach Tom O'Brien has suspended 20-year-old Justin Sweezy indefinitely after Sweezy was accused of beating up a shuttle bus driver.

Police say Sweezy, of Mooresville, is charged with misdemeanor assault and misdemeanor larceny.

They say the victim was a 64-year-old man who drives a shuttle for a Mooresville bar and that the victim accused Sweezy of stealing his tip jar. They say Sweezy punched the man in the face several times.


A rising redshirt junior, Sweezy is listed as a starter at defensive tackle for the Wolfpack. He totaled 26 tackles, 6.5 tackles for a loss, and 3.5 sacks as a sophomore in 2009.
