Williams Likes the ACC

Pack Pride talks with Monroeville (PA) Gateway wide receiver Armstead Williams about his offer from NC State and interest in the Wolfpack.

Pennsylvania linebacker Armstead Williams has received an offer from the Pack and he's giving it some serious consideration.

The 6-3, 200-pound athlete from Monroeville (PA) Gateway might be close to some schools in the Big East and Big Ten, but he told Pack Pride that he has a lot of love for the Atlantic Coast Conference. Could that help the Wolfpack over the long haul?

"Yeah, they offered me a full scholarship," Williams confirmed, speaking of NC State. "I think I got that around the end of last month.

"I didn't talk to anybody from there when they offered. They just sent me an offer letter and I got it in the mail. I'm guessing they've seen my film but they might have come to my school one day to see me. I didn't actually meet them but they probably came to my school.

"I don't know a lot about them," he admitted. "I'll give them some thought, though. I like their program and I'm loving the ACC right now so they're high up there."

Williams said he has no plans to visit NC State at any point in the future but didn't rule out the possibility of visiting Raleigh. He does plan on visiting Maryland at some point.

NC State is one of seven schools that have offered Williams, and that list is sure to grow as the recruiting process moves forward.

Last year at Gateway the junior athlete excelled on both sides of the football. As a wide receiver he caught 19 passes for 420 yards and five touchdowns, and on defense he made 69 tackles, five sacks and forced two fumbles.

He claims to have no favorites at the present time.
