Leslie Makes It Official

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Word of God star combo forward C.J. Leslie signed his letter of intent to play college basketball at NC State today in front of family and friends at Sammy's Gril.

Word of God star combo forward C.J. Leslie signed his letter of intent to play college basketball at NC State today in front of family and friends at Sammy's Grill.

Leslie officially signed his papers at 5:35 this evening.

Leslie's signing ends a recruitment that saw him commit to NC State very early in the process, decommit and consider other programs, and eventually once again pick the Wolfpack. In the end he selected State over Kentucky and UCONN among others.

Leslie's signature only improves one of the top recruiting classes in the country. Currently rated No. 5 nationally by Scout.com, the Wolfpack's three-man class of Leslie, point guard Ryan Harrow, and combo guard Lorenzo Brown is as strong as any.

"This is the benchmark effort that Sidney Lowe has been looking to deliver," said Scout.com National Basketball Director Dave Telep. "Three players, each amongst the best at their respective positions in the country.

"Now its up to them to forge together and deliver the wins a class of this magnitude is expected to bring."

"Sidney Lowe has put together an impressive group of players that should be ranked among the top five recruiting classes," stated Scout.com Recruiting Analyst Evan Daniels. "There's a lot of athleticism in this three-man group, and they should have a heck of a backcourt for the next few years."

Leslie might be the biggest prize. At 6-foot-8 and 210 pounds, the combo forward is the highest-rated pickup under Sidney Lowe. He's currently rated the No. 3 power forward in the 2010 class by Scout.com and the No. 12 player overall.

"Athletically, he's got few peers," Telep said. "The guy has a special skill to play looking down through the rim. He's a combo forward in the making."

"There aren't many guys in the 2010 class that are as gifted as Leslie," said Daniels. "He's a high-level athlete loaded with talent and potential."

With his recruitment completely behind him, Leslie can now focus on completing his senior year at Word of God before taking his game to NC State.

Scouting Report: "One of the elite athletes in the country. Leslie is comfortable facing the basket and his jump shot is much improved. He plays well above the rim, handles well for his size and attacks. Super finisher. Has loads of talent and natural ability." -- Scout.com
