NC State is showing a lot of interest in Pennsylvania defensive tackle Julian Campenni even though they have yet to offer.
It appears as though the Wolfpack coaching staff is hoping Campenni is able to make it to Raleigh for a camp this summer before they send an offer his way.
Until recently Campenni, a 6-0, 260 pound rising senior from Exeter (PA) Wyoming Area, was a relatively obscure prospect. He has attracted interest from programs in the Mid-American Conference but is now seeing interest in his talents blossom out into other regions.
Recently however Campenni's recruitment has picked up and the defensive tackle has started to generate some momentum. Three of those MAC schools -- Buffalo, Kent State and Bowling Green -- have offered, as has Indiana out of the Big Ten.
"Temple has shown me a lot of interest," Campenni added. "I went to their junior day, and I loved it there. They want me to come out to their camp. NC State wants me to come down. They said they want me to come participate in their camp. If all goes right they said I can expect an offer from them after that.
"I spoke with coach Swepson and he's excited about me. He just wants the defensive line coach and the head coach to meet me and see me."
While Campenni is playing things close to the vest and isn't talking about favorites he did admit that NC State would be at or near the top of his list if they were to offer him.
"That's absolutely a school I could be interested in, definitely," he emphasized. "ACC football is some of the best football in the country. They would definitely be right up there if they offer me.
"I haven't really sat down and thought about favorites yet though. Right now I'm just going along with the recruiting process. After camps I'll have a solid top five set out. I'm probably going to take some official visits. I'll go out to the schools that have offered first."
Campenni said education will be a huge factor in his decision. He wants to major in education and will be looking at schools that have good programs in that field. He also said his family will be a major factor in his decision, as well as the quality of football played at each school recruiting him.
