Vancouver Sun: Matt Hill Turning Pro

"Matt Hill, of Bright's Grove, Ont., will make his professional debut this week at the PGA Tour's Memorial Tournament in Dublin, Ohio.

"Playing professionally has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember, but it was important to me that I felt fully prepared to make the next step, and I think my junior season was a valuable experience in that way," said the 21-year-old, who signed with IMG.

Hill started his collegiate career at North Carolina State University during the 2007-08 season, but came into his own in his sophomore season, where he chalked up eight wins, including the NCAA individual crown. His eight wins equalled the NCAA mark held by Tiger Woods in 1995-96 and earned him the Jack Nicklaus Award as the collegiate player of the year, Golfweek's Player of the Year and the Haskins Award as the outstanding college player.

"I'm obviously very excited and thankful for the opportunity to make my professional debut at a tournament like The Memorial," said Hill, who'll also partner up with equipment maker Nike."
