Florida 'Backer Planning Visit to NC State

Pack Pride checks in with Orange Park (FL) linebacker Terrance Plummer and he talks about a possible visit to NC State.

Terrance Plummer is one of the top linebackers in Florida's Class of 2011 and NC State is one of the schools he has his sights set on.

The 6-1, 215-pound linebacker from Orange Park, Florida has offers from UConn, South Florida, FIU, Troy, Central Florida, Vanderbilt and West Virginia in addition to NC State, so he's not an under the radar prospect. Much of the buzz he's generated is likely due to some solid number from his junior season. In 2009, Plummer finished off the year with 80 tackles, two sacks, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery en route to all-county and class 6A all-state honorable mention.

The rising senior talked with Pack Pride and gave us the latest on his recruiting.

"The last camp I went to was at South Florida," Plummer recalled. "They've offered me. I did pretty well. The coaches said I was one of the best guys there. They really wanted me to come down and I feel like I did a good job."

Plummer said he isn't sure if he will be visiting any other schools this summer. He doesn't have any plans to check out any other campuses, but he and his family travel quite a bit. When they are on the road and near a college he has been hearing from he generally calls the coaches at that school and lets them know that he will stop by.

"I like NC State because I have family that lives in North Carolina," Plummer said. "They've said NC State's a pretty good school and they have great facilities. I think they're one of the schools that will be up near the top (of his list). When I go visit I'll see if what everybody says is true.

"I'll probably go for an official visit but like I said, if we go to visit family up there later this summer I might stop by then."

For now Plummer and his teammates are working out about three or four times per week. They just finished with a 7-on-7 tournament that was at their school and their first game will be on August 26th.

As he was talking about official visits he indicated it's unlikely that he will make a decision before the start of his season. Plummer is currently rated a three-star prospect by Scout.com.
