Baseball was a great experience for me. I was glad I got drafted by the Colorado Rockies. It's a great organization, a great place to play down the road and everything.
How would you grade your first year in the minors?
It was a great experience for me. I think I did real well. I improved on a few things and that's your goal everyday. Get out there and work, and you should get better each day. That's what I did.
Did you get the throw the football while you were out there?
Definitely. My teammates love football and they were saying how they wish they played football, that type of deal.
So I got to throw with my teammates and coaches, one of my coaches, my hitting coach, his name is Anthony Sanders, he got a full scholarship to play football and baseball at the University of Arizona, he threw with me some, my roommate threw with me some, and some other guys.
It was a good experience for me.
What did the Rockies tell you about your future?
They think I have a lot of potential to be in the big leagues pretty soon, in terms of my physical ability, my mental approach to the game.
Major League Baseball is a long experience... a long season, so you have to be mentally prepared.
Was there ever any doubt that you would come back and play football this year?
Any doubt? Not necessarily... I wouldn't say any doubt. I didn't know what was going to happen necessarily. I got drafted pretty early, I didn't know the situation, but of course I wanted to come back and play football.
I want to have the chance to play in the NFL, explore that, and hopefully I'll get there and play in the NFL. Hopefully I'll play in the Major Leagues. You never know, I could play both.
I'm excited I'm back here. When I landed and I was flying over I was excited to see the trees back here... just be back in Raleigh... have the experience of playing for the Wolfpack again.
If this season goes well for you would you consider coming back for another season?
Everything is a possibility. I'm not sure what's going to happen. That's why it's such a great decision. I get to explore baseball and football right now. It keeps all my options open. I'm just trying to take it one day at a time. That's the best way to go.
Thoughts on Philip Rivers recent positive comments about his ability:
Philip Rivers is a great quarterback, I watch him every Sunday that I can. He's an incredible quarterback, one of the best, if not the best in the NFL for sure.
I'm trying to get on his level each and every day. Everytime he steps on the field he's a game-changer and a winner, and that's what I'm trying to do.
