O'Brien: Good Not Practicing

RALEIGH, N.C. -- NC State head coach Tom O'Brien fielded questions from the media following practice today and here is a sample of what O'Brien had to say.

How has Russell Wilson looked so far? Is there some rust there?
I think he's a little rusty, I don't think there is any question. I know he's thrown the football some but he's got some work to do that way. Still, his athleticism and understanding the offense and decision making is there but he's got to get back in the groove. Good thing we've got a month before we play, that will help.

What about Mike Glennon? Can you see a huge jump in him from the end of spring?
Mike looks like he's picked up from the end of the spring. His ball has a lot of zip on it. He's putting the ball in the right places and throwing it to the right guys. The decision making part is really important as far as a quarterback is concerned.

The experience of the spring and getting all the reps, he's much more confident. Much more decisive in making his reads and delivering the football because he had that work in the spring and he learned from his mistakes in the spring.

You're going to make mistakes but at that position you have to learn from them and you can't continue to make them.

What's the status of Denzelle Good? Is he practicing?
He's still part of the team, if he's not I'll let you know. No he's not.

How's Nate Irving been?
He's learning his position. That's the best way to put it. It's new to him but he has all the natural instincts, but it's kind of like Russell, good thing we've got a month to get in there. When he knows what he's doing and where he's going you see flashes of the old Nate so that's what we have to continue to do.
