"I think I played well at a few events," said Hubert. "The Peach Jam and Desert Duel, those I did well in. With AAU over I now have a bunch of schools on me.

"Wake Forest, Pittsburgh, Georgia Tech, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Maryland, NC State, Ohio State, and Texas are the schools I've heard from now that the live period is over. I believe everyone except for Texas has offered me a scholarship."

Rated the No. 12 center prospect and the No. 80 recruit overall in the 2011 class by, Hubert's specialty is defense. Checking in at 6-foot-9 and 210 pounds with long arms and explosive athleticism, Hubert is one of the top shot-blockers in the country. He has terrific timing and is a presence in the paint defensively.

"Colleges like my length and athleticism," said Hubert. "I know they like my ability to block shots and play defense. They also like my upside.

"To be honest, most are recruiting me to be a face-up four in college. I don't think any have come out and said they want me to play the five. It's mainly been the four spot and even a couple have mentioned the three."

Most of the schools on Hubert's list have been recruiting him for an extended period of time. He's already taken unofficial visits to Pittsburgh, NC State, Wake Forest, and Maryland and plans to visit some schools in the near future. A couple of programs recently increased their level of interest.

"Of the schools really recruiting me hard NC State is the one that has stepped up their interest... them and Texas," said Hubert. "NC State was at a lot of my games during the live period."

Here are Hubert's thoughts on some of the programs under consideration.

Wake Forest: "I like the coaching staff, and I feel really comfortable with coach Bzdelik. I also like coach LaRue and it's a great academic school."

Virginia: "With them it's the same thing as Wake Forest... I'm comfortable with the coaches and I really like them. Coach Bennett is a young coach and it's kind of easy to relate to him."

NC State: "I don't really know as much about NC State because they have just now stepped it up, but I do like coach Strickland. Also, one of my teammates is a student there and I've been down to their campus. It's a great campus... it's huge. I also really like the recruiting class they have coming in ahead of me."

Maryland: "They have an assistant who I'm really comfortable with and another who came from Xavier and was recruiting me when he was there. I also think Gary Williams is a great coach. they are in the ACC, which is a good conference. I feel like I could come in my freshman year and get some minutes."

While Hubert maintains that he is wide open, he hopes to have a decision by the fall signing period.

"I'm not ready to cut my list," he said. "I'm still interested in everybody. I'm probably going to have a top five or so after the next couple of weeks. I think I'll take some visits then because I would like to make my decision by sometime in October.

"I'm looking for good academics and good coaches. I also want to be comfortable with my teammates."
