Is Stanton Seckingercloser to a decision than he was the last time he spoke with Pack Pride?
The 6-5, 200-pound receiver from Charleston (SC) Porter-Gaud told Pack Pride early this week that the status quo is still holding firm. NC State has offered, Clemson has asked him to greyshirt, and a few other schools are showing interest.
For now Seckinger appears content to wait things out a little bit and see what happens in the fall before he makes a decision.
"Right now that's still how it is with those schools [NC State and Clemson]," Seckinger said. "I think Clemson is coming to reevaluate me at one of my games but I'm not totally positive when that is.
"I'm still talking to South Carolina a lot. Duke called the other day and really wants me to come up because they're very interested. They said they don't offer people unless they meet them. It's not really an interview but they just want to see how they are. They really want me to come up soon.
"Also, Memphis wants to offer me too. I've tried to get in touch with their coaches but it's been kind of tough lately."
NC State is the only school to ask Seckinger to join them in this recruiting class. Does the fact that he hasn't committed indicate a lack of interest in the Wolfpack? Not according to Seckinger himself.
"I talked to coach Bridge probably a couple of weeks ago now," he said. "I've been getting some letters from him and I hope to talk to him again soon.
"I'm just trying to figure out what I'm looking for in a school and what would be the best fit for me."
There is at least one major thing working in the Pack's favor. Seckinger thinks he could see the field early in Raleigh.
"One of the good things about NC State, at least the way I look at it, is playing time is there and that's a good opportunity for me. That's something that's important to me and that's one of the things I'm weighing with NC State and a couple of other schools."
In spite of all that Seckinger said he is trying not to focus too much on the recruiting process for the time being.
"We're into our season and that's what I'm trying to focus on," he explained. "I'm leading my team. I'm weighing my options a little bit and I'm definitely wanting to take some visits to see different schools. I haven't really talked to anyone about official visits but I'm definitely planning on getting out to all the different campuses.
"One of the things I'm really interested in is seeing the student body at all the different schools. That will tell me a lot about each place."
