"All week we just treated [Marshall] like another running back," opposing defensive back Sam Stone told the News & Observer. "He's great, but if you get into the hype, it gets into your head. So we just tried to stop him like everybody else."

"[Our defense] played a great game," opposing coach Chris Martin told the News & Observer. "Going into the week, you have McFarland and Marshall, who are extremely talented kids. We were scared of them. Luckily, we shut them down."

Recruit(s) of Note: Tanner McEvoy: completed 8-of-14 passes for 205 yards, three touchdowns (40 and 28 yards), and two interceptions. He also scored on a two-yard run.

"I had a couple of mistakes, but every game has mistakes," McEvoy told the Record. "We have to come back and have a good week of practice and play as hard as we can [next] Saturday."

"The first one [called off] I was perfectly fine. I was like, 'OK I can live with it,' " Thorpe told the Herald-Sun. "The second one for a 100-something odd yards I was like, 'Oh I just ran it this far and they called it back? Are you serious?' "
