Curry named Mr. 2A Basketball again

JamesOn Curry, the junior shooting guard from Eastern Alamance HS who has already committed to UNC, was named North Carolina's Mr. 2A Basketball for the second year in a row - he's the first two-time winner of the award.

The first repeat winner of the award, scoring sensation JamesOn Curry wins 2A award again. The prolific scorer averaged 34.7 points per game, 82.2 percent from the free throw line and averaged 3.3 3-pointers per contest. While leading team in points, rebounds and steals, he guided Eastern to Eastern Regional semifinals. Fourth in NCHSAA scoring history with 2,503 points, he is expected to overtake the state scoring record next season as he is a mere 255 points away. Set records for freshman scoring (689), sophomore (892) and junior year scoring (972). Holds the state records for 20, 30 and 40 point career games. Curry sports a 29.7 point per game career average through three years in 84 games.

2A runner-ups include Drew Williamson (Cummings), Shamari Spears (Salisbury), Justin Dunn (North Lenoir), Derek Hood (West Caldwell) and Joseph Thompson (Whiteville).
