"We just want to learn to compete at a high level. We can't go any place in our league that will be like the Dean Dome." – Lipscomb head coach Scott Sanderson

"Guys have a greater sense of urgency. They're more committed. It's been going on since practice started, and obviously North Carolina has something to do with it." – Bisons center Adnan Hodzic on the team's approach to the season

"We've got a difficult opener – they're really good… This will be one of those games that our team better be ready." – UNC head coach Roy Williams

Exhibition Results: Lipscomb built a 19-point halftime lead and went on to blow out visiting Trevecca, 106-59, on Nov. 4. Adnan Hodzic led the Bisons with 19 points and five rebounds, while Justin Glenn added 17 points and six rebounds for the Bisons. Lipscomb shot 56.5 percent from the floor (39-of-69) and knocked down 45.8 percent of their 3-pointers (11-of-24). Trevecca connected on just 35.6 percent of its field goals (21-of-59) and lost the rebounding battle, 45-27.

Team Preview: Lipscomb returns all five starters and 96.6 percent of its scoring from last season's 17-13 (14-6 A-Sun) squad that won the Atlantic Sun regular season title. The Bisons shot 46.5 percent from the field, including a 36.4 mark from long range, while holding their opponents to 46.7 percent on the season. Lipscomb led the A-Sun in scoring offense (79.1 ppg), field goal percentage, 3-point field goal percentage and assists (17.3).

Repeat Performance: What type of encore do you deliver after a Player of the Year season? It's just a simple matter of rinsing and repeating. Lipscomb senior center Adnan Hodzic earned A-Sun POY honors last year after leading the conference in scoring (22.7 points) and ranking second in rebounding (9.1). The 6-foot-8, 245-pounder was tabbed as the preseason Player of the Year this season, but has been slowed this fall with an ankle injury. Hodzic missed the bulk of the first 10 days of practice, but has slowly returned to form over the past two weeks.

More Preseason Honors: Hodzic is not alone on the preseason all-conference squad as senior guard Josh Slater was also selected to the team after averaging 17.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.2 assists in '09-'10.

Hometown Ties: As odd as it may sound, Ames (Iowa) High School will have the most number of alums on the floor on Friday night. Everyone knows about UNC preseason All-American Harrison Barnes, but the freshman will be joined by former Ames teammate Jordan Burgason. The 6-foot-3 junior guard averaged 12.8 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists last season for the Bisons. Burgason led the league in 3-point accuracy (43 percent) and ranked sixth nationally.

Series History: Friday's contest will be the first meeting between these two programs.
